Nollywood Icon Kingsley Ogoro (Sir Kay) Celebrates 60th Birthday

Today August 29 2025. The Nigerian entertainment industry proudly celebrates Kingsley Ogoro, popularly known as Sir Kay, as he clocks 60. A true legend of Nollywood, Sir Kay has spent decades shaping the landscape of film and music, leaving behind an indelible mark that continues to inspire generations.
Kingsley Ogoro is widely celebrated for producing the blockbuster Osuofia in London, one of Nollywood’s most iconic and globally recognized films. The movie not only broke records at the time of its release but also paved the way for Nollywood’s acceptance on the international stage. He went on to produce other blockbusters like Battle of Love, Across, the Niger, The widow, The Prostitute and The Return which took 5 years to shoot. That’s a story for another day. Beyond film,
Sir Kay’s influence runs deep in the world of music. As a veteran music producer, he has worked with top talents, creating timeless sounds and pioneering projects that have enriched Nigeria’s cultural and creative industries. From Esse Agesse, Blackky, Emphasis, Myself Segun Arinze to the Legendary King Sunny Ade’s Album Authority and many more notable music acts not to talk about the countless jingles and soundtracks. One that readily comes to mind was the popular Indomie noodles jingle.
As he turns 60, Kingsley Ogoro remains a shining example of creativity, resilience, restlessness, doggedness, stubbornness, tenacity, never say never spirit and innovation. And to talk about film production equipment, Sir Kay took it to a whole new level! His contributions have shaped Nollywood into a global brand and strengthened Nigeria’s presence on the world stage.
