Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has denied reports circulating on social media linking him to the recent abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons.
In a statement issued by his media office, the senator described the allegations as false, malicious, baseless, and politically motivated, insisting that he has no connection whatsoever to the kidnapping incident or any of the individuals involved.
The statement noted that Senator Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, is a respected legal practitioner, traditional title holder, and public servant with a longstanding reputation for leadership, peace, and service to the people.
According to the media office, attempts to link the senator to criminal activities based on unverified claims allegedly made by a suspect under investigation are irresponsible, defamatory, and intended to damage his reputation.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Alli has no connection whatsoever with the said criminal incident, the individuals mentioned, or any activity related to kidnapping or violence,” the statement said.
The senator’s media team further dismissed suggestions that campaign materials or stickers bearing his image could be used as evidence of involvement, describing such claims as part of a deliberate effort by political opponents to tarnish the image of a prominent political figure in Oyo State.
The statement emphasized that no security agency has established any link between Senator Alli and the alleged crime, warning against the spread of unverified information capable of misleading the public and creating unnecessary political tension.
While condemning kidnapping and other forms of criminality, Senator Alli reaffirmed his commitment to supporting measures aimed at strengthening security and protecting lives and property across Oyo State and Nigeria.
The media office urged members of the public to disregard the allegations and refrain from circulating false information that could undermine ongoing investigations.
It also called on security agencies to investigate the source of the publication and ensure that those responsible for spreading fake news and engaging in political blackmail are held accountable.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Senator Alli’s commitment to his legislative duties and his vision of a safer, more prosperous, and united Oyo State.
